DONATION TO BAI CHAN SCHOOL IN MIANYANG CITY-SICHUAN
The school is located in a village that is 120 kilometers away from the Mianyang City. When I first arrived in the village to inspect the school, I saw two students playing badminton using books as the badminton racquets while the other students were barefooted. It reminded me of my childhood. The school was severely devastated during the 5/21 earthquake last year. Now the reconstructed had been started and perhaps more classroom building will be build in March next year.
Originally, our estimation is to reach the place in three hours but we realized that we were already walking for more than four hours. The students were already lined up when we arrived. They welcomed us warmly and with high spirit even if our gifts were not so many. The school prepared a simple ceremony for the reception of the donations. The school principal, in his speech, expressed his gratitude and encouraged the students to be diligent in their studies even in difficult situations so that they can return this goodness to the society in the future. CARITAS representative Mr. Yi Guang Bing explained the background and purpose of CARITAS and reminded the children that study is an opportunity that will prepare them for their own future and for the future of the society!
